Rapper Lil Wayne Does Time Rapper Lil Wayne, real name Dwayne M. Carter Jr., was sentenced to one year in prison Thursday for attempted weapons possession charges, the Associated press reported. He remains free on a $30,000 bail.
The rapper changed his plea from not guilty to guilty Thursday. He was originally charged with illegal gun possession charges when police found a gun on his tour bus back in 2007. That charge carried at least 3 1/2 years in jail upon conviction.
Arguably rap's most popular artist and one of pop's biggest acts, the 27-year-old will remain free on bail while awaiting his February sentencing.
Lil Wayne is currently expecting a child with singer Nivea, 27. It is his fourth child and the third son in about a year for the rapper, US Weekly reported.
DENNIS QUAID came extremely close to getting a DUI early yesterday morning . . . but the cop let him off the hook.
--Quaid, his wife and another sexy blonde had just left a Hollywood restaurant called Philippe . . . (--Where the blonde friend had been DANCING ON THE BAR to Aerosmith's "Walk This Way".) And Dennis was looking a little rough.
--They got into Dennis' waiting SUV . . . but just as he was about to start driving, a cop pulled up next to him. (--It almost seemed like he was just WAITING for them.)
--Dennis' vehicle was running, he was in the driver's seat and he'd put his hands on the wheel. So even if he did nothing else, that would have still been enough to constitute drunk driving . . . IF Dennis was drunk enough.
--But the cop never tested him. Instead, he let Dennis go back into the restaurant and call a cab.
